Did you Know?

Fishing operations on Georges Bank, as in other areas of Canadian fishing zones are limited by TAC: Total Allowed Catch. Each year, Fisheries & Oceans Canada sets the TAC rate for each type of fish. The fishing quotas are fishing rights and are a part of the TAC. The TAC rate varies in percentage from one year to the next depending on stock assessment of each species. Quotas vary proportionally to the TAC. Companies looking to increase their fishing operations need to rent or buy existing fishing quotas.
